This past week one of my reading groups was learning about inventions.  One of the activities that they did was to pick one of the things we had learned about and write a short paper.  We have been working on making things "visually appealing" and they really put effort into making a plain piece of lined paper interesting.  So after all five of them finished their papers, we decided to create a time line.  They went to work and quickly we found that I don't own a yard stick so they could make a long straight line!  I couldn't believe it, with all my plastic bins and shelves full of stuff I don't have a yard stick. So what to do????????  Problem solved we glued a piece of ribbon down!  SUCCESS!  Here is their finished product.  Not bad for their first attempt!
